New goats are home

First time owner and have a few questions. Have 3 kiko's and put them into field today- they were nervous and ran to the top of the hill. My neighbor has goats 2 fields over and my goats won't leave that side of the fence line. Is this normal?

Also, I took feed up today trying to get them to follow me back to the barn....they were very skittish and ran away. I'm wanting them to get familiar with me so they will be easier to catch if they get out.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

You really need a smaller area to work with them if you can build a fenced enclosure at the barn that they can be in. Time and patience will work but then I have had some that were just plain wild. Some of our goats are friendly and some are not no matter how much we have worked with them. They will be nervous about anything new so just leave some feed in buckets (no sweet feed), for them and they will come to understand that you are giving them something they like. I have ours trained to come back to the barn when I whistle for them as they know it is feed time. Have fun learning about goats they are quite addictive.
