I look for nice green hay that has no mold / dust alphalfa is the king of forage and the most expencive depending on what your animals are used for has a lot to do with how you have and what to feed them; for a donkey not at work good first cutting hay would be fine while dairy goats or nurseing mothers will make better use of the richer alphalfa. . a good mixed grass n clover hay first or second cutting is good for cows and goats both being ruminants though second cutting is usally moer tender and preferred by them .the main thing to watch out for is dust and mold from hay being put up before proper cureing or rained on . what choices do you have ?
