A little help with ADGA

I have a buckling I'm thinking about purchasing and I have his sires' adga number. I wanted to see if I could find info on the milk production of the paternal granddam. The ADGA site has changed a lot and I can't figure out how (or if I can with not being a member) to find this stuff anymore.

Thanks!

Some of that info can be found on adgagenetics.org. Search for the adga number or name, then go to production. It doesn't give the same info as goat lookup/subscription reports (under member login). I may be able to do a bit of lookup for you if you'd like.

Ah! Thank you!

Now, how do I interpet this info?

Average ME Milk 1603 Is this the does' production amount? If so, how is it measured? I am trying to figure the does average daily milking amount. Is this number her total for the lactation? How long is the lactation as they measure things for this?

ME is the ESTIMATE if she went a full 305d and is given in total pounds expected. The AVERAGE ME is the average of all estimated 305d lactations she has done DHIR on. So, ADGA genetics doesn't give you actual production. If she has a lactation on record you can click USDA DATA and get actual production info from multiple lactations though!

The lbs/yr doesn't give you how many pounds per day, because it gives the total for the lactation. What she produces at peak is not what she'll be producing over her whole lactation. It's about 5lbs/day ON AVERAGE.

For a FF, she would have been close or did earn her star. Star requirements are pretty lenient. If she has more than one lactation on record or if she was older than a FF, I wouldn't be impressed with those numbers on a lactation. The averages for different breeds varies, however.

So what does this tell you? I gather it's her first lactation last year but I don't understand all the numbers.

Lac Fresh DIM Herd CtrlNo Proc_Date Mod_Date LT Mk LI TC TC2 OS% PC Opn DCR Milk DCR Fat DCR Prot DCR SCS Bth NTD 1 2014/02/08 25 91850629 19 2014/04/09 2014/04/15 0 80 0 6 0 0 -1 59 90 60 4 59 3 62 1.68 1 1

I know the output varies during lactation, but I figure an average is the best I am going to get. I have fairly high standards
in that regard. I would consider a gallon a day to be bare minimum. I have 2 that give me that per milking. However this is an
oberhasli and I know they aren't quite as productive. I'm kind of gathering, though,
that she's not top for that breed either.

To me, this looks like she doesn't have a lactation on record available on this site. I don't see any record information on what you sent me. I think sometimes these records are estimated from relatives that were on test - which is why you won't see DHIR information on some individuals, but they earn their SG or have PTI's/ETA's on them despite no record on file that I can find.

Feel free to give me a reg number so I can run subscription reports/goat lookup and send the info to you. As I said, sometimes ADGA doesn't talk well to ADGA Genetics so info could be missing.

ME is Mature Equivalents and it is an estimate of what the goat would produce as a mature (5 year old??) doe.
mygoat likes this.
