Down goat?

Every one says that a Down goat is the dead goat but mine lay down quite a bit on their own and get up on their own. Is this a problem? Sometimes when the rain clears and the Sun comes out they will go in the yard and kneel down for awhile in the sun spots. I didn't think it was an issue till I started reading all these things where everyone says that they need to get up as soon as possible...

"Down" means something slightly different in this context. When somebody says that they have a down goat (or cow, or what have you), it means the animal has laid down and can't or won't get up. This is a HUGE problem, because the longer they stay that way, the less likely they are to EVER get back up - so you need to get them moving as soon as possible.

But all animals lie down for a rest sometimes, then get back up on their own. That is completely normal. Mine have a spot out in the middle of the pasture where they like to lie down all together and chew cud in the afternoon. It's really peaceful.
