True I am ignorant...but I am learning :)

Will goats enjoy any of these grasses/browses?

specific contents of this pasture grass seed blend are:
  • 35% Indian Ricegrass
  • 20% Sideoats Grama
  • 20% Blue Grama
  • 15% Arizona Fescue
  • 10% Alfalfa

I don't know about the grasses but I do know we were all born ignorant and we all had to learn. If you pick on yourself too much others think they have the right to pick on you too!

They will eat all of those. Goats are browsers, so do consider adding forage plants as well, such as chicory, brassicas, etc. Its a little late to find in feed stores, but buck plot seed is excellent. You might have to order online and seed early spring. Some of the best goat forage is naturally occurring "weeds" that aren't sold as seed. Most pasture mixes are made for horses and cows. Do some searching on the internet, you may find some "dairy" pasture blends. In AZ the alfalfa may require irrigation. The good news is goats are native to arid lands and many of the native shrubs and weeds suited to dry areas are great for goats. I would not plant any seed mix that requires pampering. Plantain(not the banana) is a very nutritional plant with deep tap roots that holds up well to grazing and dry conditions. Lambs quarters is another good one. Check some of the natives in your area. You might find some wonderful weeds just perfect for your goats.

"Ignorant but learning" is a clever oxymoron! Ignorant is the inability or unwillingness to learn.

(ignorant can be rectified, and it's not an unwillingness to learn)

i know about the oxymoron...I thought it was funny LOL. Which would be the same as saying I might not be ignorant. I always think of stupid as being unable to learn and ignorant as being "unknowing".

I did find a goat browse grass mix that might be better and costs a bit less as well. Still researching what will grow in my high desert dryland field.
