Goat or sheep?

http://www.npr.org/blogs/goatsandsod...than-you-think

Seems the writer had posted a picture of a sheep in place of the goat as in the title. So someone corrected the error by emailing the following.

The ears, the ears

It's all in the ears!

Goats have sticky out small ears!

These flappers surely belong to a sheep!

-this-a-goat-or-a-sheep-its-harder-than-you-think

And still not easy for public radio. His expert help wrote the above. I guess this expert has not experienced nubians....... and a couple of other attributes of goatiness too. But at least the sheep is gone.

But the articles are fun anyway. Goats are getting some respect now.

Huh. The expert made no mention of the prominent eye glands on a sheep, or the more distinct groove in the upper lip. And if you read to the end of the article, it becomes apparent that the expert has never heard of pack goats. Not too impressive.

Or hair sheep, which don't have fleeces.

Silly NPR....The difference is all in the EYES!!!

Gaze into the eyes of a goat and you get a soul-piercing look back that says "take me home and be my BFF"

Gaze into the eyes of a sheep and you will get back a......well...gaze at a sheep and you will see the tastiest thing ever cooked on a stick.

My eleven year-old daughter wanted me to post that she took the test and got it correct. And she mentioned most all of the characteristics y'all mentioned! Even Honest Abe's comment, although she was indifferent about the "tastiest thing on a stick". Ears were not even a consideration.

Yeah, right. Sticky out small ears? Certainly not. What about Nubians? Anyway, everything everyone mentioned is the right way to tell the difference. Also, if you can see their tail, sheep tend to keep their tails down while goats' tails are generally up.
