First heat - cover your ears

Read about it but first time actually experiencing it. Nubian born in Feb has apparently come into her first heat. Tail wagging, crusty tail and yelling all day - poor thing (and her poor sister). Had to turn off the baby monitor. Let her crawl up in my lap and gave her a good ear scratching.

Thanks for letting me share - I can't imagine a whole yard full in heat at the same time, lol. Yikes.

They don't all yell like that, and even the yellers don't yell every time. Although around here at least, loud heats seem to be better - two out of three didn't take on a non-yelling heat, and then did when they were hollering. Goats, amirite?

Seems to have lasted about 16 hours. All quiet now, whew! One more young one to come along - we'll see if she ends up hollering or not. First breeding attempts after the first of the year, so hopefully loud heats bring babies. lol
