Hey, Baby, It's cold outside!

Who wants to come do my chores? It's 5:41 pm, already zero and dropping steadily. I am dreading going out to do chores. So glad I bred for April babies this year, I can't stand the thought of kidding in minus 20 degree weather again! Brrrrrrr.

Couldn't do it. I'm in SC and always freezing. It's 56 here right now at 8:45 pm. It was 70 today and so nice out. I'm already looking forward to summer though, as we had one night it got into the teens already. It was below freezing at night for almost a week!
Do you put heaters in your water troughs or just bust ice off them?

As I've gotten older the cold don't hardly bother me anymore. I rarely get cold. I hunt in temps that make my breath freeze to my beard. However, we don't see 20 below in Arkansas. God bless.

We are having a below normal cold snap right now. Low was 3 last night (high of 15 for the day) but we are supposed to warm up starting today. Looking at almost 30 today and by Sunday we should finally be close to 40! Yeah!!

I'm scared ...we are having the weirdest weather so far. Down past freezing in the morning then up to almost 50 midday..last weekend we had almost 70 degree weather. It started raining thursday night and finally stopped this morning now everything is muddy, cold, and soaking wet....
I hate having to scrape ice off my truck then drive into work to scrape more ice off my bus...am just glad my bus warms up fairly quick once its moving.

Same here, wintrrwolf...I wish it would make up its mind! That's the problem with living in the "middle" the top and bottom keeping sending us what they don't want!!
Watching the goats to make sure they are dry and out of the drafts! We have never had pneumonia and don't want to start now!!
Ford Zoo: Did I ever tell you that we used to live in the frozen tundra? and not as NORTH in WI as you either! Still, it was plenty cold enough and the S.N.O.W. !! Enough said. We moved. WI is a beautiful swamp but there just aren't enough seasons up there. Stay warm...brrrrrrr

I don't want to jinx us here but after our last artic blast we've actually warmed up to the low to mid 30's during the day for about the last week!
I hope it stays this way for a couple more months but I'm sure it won't last!
Hang in there Michelle, Spring will be here in 4 months!

Warm in MN... High 20s... Might even get above freezing later this week!

So very sad that 20s are 'warm'... But it is what it is

Oops, I've been enjoying the warm spell with Katie so much that I forgot I posted this Some one was saying today that at this time last year we were at minus 50 for a few days, how quickly I forgot! It's a warm 24 degrees tonight, and I am not being facetious!

Childsfarm, I use heated water buckets. I do know those that just bust the ice out, but I'm worried they may not drink enough of the cold water. And when we do get minus 20 to 50, the buckets can freeze solid and crack overnight. I've lost a few pricey heated buckets in the past when they became unplugged overnight. Got a little smart over the years and now secure my plug ins with tape and secure the cords to the wall with whatever, lest the horned buck gets bored and rips the cords down just because he can

Our temp gage at home went about like this:

Above 70 = not fit for human habitation
30-70 = tolerable
0- 30 = chilly
-1 - -20 = cold
below -20 bring in the brass monkey after you're done with your chores!

Well now it's been in the 40's & rainy so now it's soggy & muddy everywhere! I want cold enough to freeze the ground & stay that way until spring!
30 is just fine & not too much snow!
I wish we could have everything we wished for when it comes to weather but it doesn't hurt to ask.
