CAE clean herd

Today we got the results back from the lab that our herd is 100% clean of CAE. Everyone tested clean!!! This is excellent news to me because these are our foundation animals. And starting clean is a huge plus.

I'm sorry to rain on your parade, but how many times have they been tested? If only once, they may or may not be CAE free. CAE is an ugly disease and can raise it's head at any time. I would not consider my herd CAE free until the test had come back negative at 6 month intervals for at least 3 times.

Great! Thanks for the info. I will continue to check. These are yearling does and bucks from clean herds. I will follow your advise, but the indications (early) are that my herd is CAE free. Rain only brings harvest...
