Goat Ultrasound Results!

I had some goats ultrasounded today. The vet who did it, had never done goats before, but was willing to try. At first, it was looking like it wouldn't work, but I called my friend who has her own ultrasound and does her goats and we got it figured out! It was so exciting! My friend brought some boers, and I brought some goats. The 3 of hers that I AI'd for her are pregnant!! So awesome! It is easier to see whether or not pregnant than it is to tell how many are there, but I tried to kind of figure it up myself on some We'll see if I'm right in the spring.

Two were probably open:
Flora, who has had some breeding trouble and we saw what looked to be scar tissue in her uterus, not good. I'm hoping that's not what's going on, but if she doesn't breed this year, I'm done. A shame, as she is a great milker, milked thru super well, and appraised 90 VEEE at 12 months fresh as a 3 year old. I will Biotracking test her, if numbers good, will retest again later. If not good numbers, will lute her, then throw her in with the bucks and let her live there the rest of winter. Actually, will probably do that either way.
Starla, was bred with Jailbait, a June buckling, but don't think he could reach. I missed her heat last time, she's pretty sneaky. She was at day 42 today, and when we saw she was open, I checked her tail and she seemed to be in heat. LOL. So, I'll rebreed and go from there.

The rest were pregnant:
Bambina, Nigerian, bred AI to Dill's RD Big & Rich! Looked like multiples.
Moose, Alpine, bred AI to Pearl Valley Yreka Laredo! Looked like twins, maybe triplets.
Dandy, Nigerian, also bred AI to Dill's RD Big & Rich! Didn't see how many, but she did have triplets as a yearling ff.
Twist, Alpine, bred to Edgar, another June buckling. Looked like 2.
Kourtney, Nigerian, bred to Jailbait, 2 or 3 or more.
Ivy, Nigerian, bred to Jailbait
Virginia, Nigerian, bred to Quin, probably pregnant...she was only 29 days, kinda hard to tell.
Peekaboo, Nigerian, bred to Jailbait.

I bet that was cool to do the ultrasounds & see everything. My vet got an ultrasound machine last year but I've never asked her to do my goats yet.
Maybe sometime though.

I have a girl I got this year that comes down from Soldier Mnt Freelance Fred and Tempo Aquila Freelance. Wonder if ours are related. http://adgagenetics.org/GoatDetail.a...ber=A001700386

Some of them you kind of could. See on the first post. They may not be totally accurate, though, we'll see. Yep, all of my alpines are related to yours one way or another.

Yes, you can. I think the price will vary by the vet. Mine didn't know what to charge so he just charged each me and my friend an exam fee of $40.

Good luck finding a vet to do it, though. I called ALL the local vets, and this was the only one willing to try and he had never done ultrasound on goats before! Luckily, I have a friend in W. WA that has her own ultrasound for her goats and she was able to help the vet figure it out.
