Can you freeze yogurt?

I know milk doesn't freeze worth a darn, how about yogurt? Will the consistency be weird when we thaw it out later? My non-stop doe is putting out more than we can consume.

You can freeze goat milk if you freeze it IMMEDIATELY after you come in the house and strain it. It thaws nicely then. Don't let it sit in the fridge for any length of time before freezing.

You can freeze yogurt, but it won't be as smooth on thawing.

Make chevre. It freezes and thaws nicely.

I have kept unopened yogurt in the fridge for well over a year. When I opened the jar it smelled and tasted great. Some of it I used to start a new batch the rest we ate.

Or just don't bother thawing it at all and have frozen yogurt

When the kids were young, I would throw cups of yogurt into the freezer and then put them in their packed lunch. Ice pack to keep the lunch cool turned to partially frozen yogurt at lunch. Never had a complaint (unless I forgot)

I have been thinking about seeing how it would do in an ice cream maker. That would get around the problem of trying to separate the cream and make real ice cream. Frozen yogurt is just as good as ice cream I think.

I make frozen yogurt quite often in my little Cuisinart Ice Cream maker. 3 cups yogurt, 1/2 cup sugar, and a couple of scoops of homemade jam. If the jam is extra sweet, I cut back on the sugar.

I've frozen fresh goat milk, home made goat yogurt and will be freezing some goat milk kefir milk too. The goat milk thawed and still tasted like fresh. The yogurt still had that nice texture and taste. I'm still learning about kefir.
