How do your goats sleep?

Each of our goats huddles together with 1-2 specific other goats, specifically our does (there aren't enough bucks to tell.) It's easy to tell who is friends with whom this way! You have to get up earlier than the goats, though. It goes like this:

Luna, Hazel, and Clover sleep snuggled up as a threesome. They all came from the same farm within the same few months. Luna and Clover came first and have always been just a bit closer to each other than to Hazel.

Annabeth and Bella. Annabeth is an older doe who has kidded three years in a row and is very attached to any kids she has. Bella is currently her only kid and they stick together like glue, with Annabeth still letting Bella nurse even though she's nearly six months old.

Sundae and Rocky. We got Sundae last April, and she hasn't really bonded much with any of our does. So, right now she sleeps with Rocky, her single buckling.

Lily and Lulu. Lulu is actually a sheep, but whatever. Lily loooves Lulu and Lulu allows Lily to follow her anywhere and doesn't head-butt her, so they stick together like Bella does to Annabeth. We got them from the same farm and they've always been very bonded.

What about you? Feel free to post about your goaty pals!!!

I'm blessed to have a herd now that gets along extremely well. I can't even say I have a queen. There are two twin matriarchs, a daughter and two unrelated bucks. At the moment everyone is together(does are bred w due dates on the calendar). They sleep literally in a cozy pile. The youngest buckling is definitely the bottom of the pecking order but even he doesn't get pushed around.

I've had a couple of pushy does in the past that wouldn't let others in the barn during a rainstorm. And had a buck for a little over a month, sent him packing quick, he was an aggressive &%*#!! He was out of high priced Boer buck that appeared on CL every couple of months. My theory is no one could tolerate him any longer than it took to breed their does!

I have one who I swear never sleeps. She likes to stand in the middle of the pasture and stare at the house. It is extremely creepy the few times I've had to be out there late.

We have two - half-sister doelings. They sleep in the barn, in their stall on the sleeping benches overlapping each other. When it's cold, sometimes they both crawl into the XL Dog-Igloo in their stall.

Mudge and Winnie (mother and 2 1/2 year old daughter) sleep together on one of the sleeping benches. Snicket and Zaida Mae (mother and 1 1/2 year old daughter) sleep together under the hay rack.

Just noticed the other morning when it was pretty cold, the alpines all were lined up in a row and then the Nigerians were kind of in a pile separately, with the newest 2 does cuddled together as well. I guess they are kind of breedist! I remember when I had the mini alpines, that they mostly hung out with the Nigerians, rather than the alpines.

Goats are absolutely breedist. When I had two Nubians and two Saanens it was like having two herds... each goat had a buddy, and they weren't really interested in those weird goats over there, thank you very much.

Our goats choose to sleep outside most of the time, generally on or around a very large boulder that is in their pen.
