House Goat!

I found old photos on my camera and these where just too good not to share! Toy was our resident dog-goat, he was the master at getting out of anything and as you can see he had no qualms with making himself right at home . He was a bottle baby and in fact spent many of his young days as a newborn running around in that very kitchen. He has since then become quite a large fellow and had to be escorted out.

I put Toy down this last Fall because of old age (he was 9 years old) and I didn't think he would do well going through another Winter. So I said goodbye to my faithful companion and first buck I ever raised and owned. Seeing these photos brings back the familiar ache but also memories of the laughter I shared with him. What a total goof ball that boy was, he lives on through his twin sister Trinket and great granddaughter Thyme in the herd.

It was a hard but right decision. We put him down and our resident old girl on the same day, they where just getting up there in age and I didn't think either of them would do well through Winter. Also I didn't want any huge vet bills because of their older age, I had to think of the rest of the herd as well. When my vet put both of them down Toy was gone before he even laid down, my vet told me he was more than ready to go. That helped me a lot, my vet is amazing and always shows such great respect to the animals and to me.

I do miss him but his sister can be JUST like him so I have that . Trinket is 10yrs old this year and I am breeding her one last time in hopes of a little doe kid for me .

Awwe! So cute! I had a bottle baby in the house for far too long- and still to this day she will try to sneak in! Silly little girl.

Looks like a sweet boy, who made nice memories for ya!
