Meat goat

I don't raise goats , but would like advice on buying farm
fresh goat for the freezer meat.
Down the road people raise some very attractive meat goats .
I forgot the breed. They have a big rump and muscular in stature.
If I got interested in buying one for butchering , how much
would be a fair price. I'm guessing this spring young is
about ready? What , around age 5 months?
I can process deer. Would processing the goat be same ?
That is, kill and then hang, etc.

Yes, the processing is the same. You'll have to ask how much they want for it. Prices vary wildly around the country. If they are raising breeding stock, you may be able to get a cull for butcher price.

Here are our local prices at the buying station.

My opinion of lamb is very low. I dislike the texture. Goat is a red meat and I have enjoyed it greatly every time I have eaten it. Sheep is only good, in my opinion as gyro meat.

I like lamb, but find it somewhat fatty and gamey which I
don't mind. Is goat meat like that? I like venison ,too .

Its a pretty lean meat, goat is. I'd place it as a more delicate, maybe a little sweeter beef taste and texture. I've never had rutty goat but I have heard that likened to venison.
