Letting milking goat drink milk

I have a 4-year old Toggenburg milk goat that I am milking. When I'm done, she is very keen to drink her own milk.
She milks about 2 litres (2 quarts) -- could she have some of her milk? She has been more insistant since the weather got very hot (90 plus).

She is from a CAE prevention program (she only got pasteurized milk as a baby as did her babies)

Whadda ya all think?

are you saying she is suckling herself? cull her

no she doesn't need milk, up her protein perhaps using protein blocks but no milk

A lot of dairy goats like milk, and a lot of people give their does the extra milk after milking. As long as she's not too fat, why not? If she's self-sucking, that's a different issue, but can be solved if you catch it quick. Let us know if that's what's going on. And, by the way, she can't catch anything she hasn't already got by drinking her own fresh milk.

Sorry for being confusing... she is trying to drink it out of the pail after I milk.
Thanks for the info. She isn't fat but she doesn't look she has missed a meal either :haha:

I had a doe that loved to drink the fresh whey from my cheese making.

I felt better about letting her drink it then tossing it down the drain.

We had a doe who nursed herself so we took her to the auction. But we never thought about feeding the excess milk. Sounds like a good idea but let's hear from the experts.

i had one that loved milk. i let her drink it when i had extra.
