Bye Bye Lela

Feb 06- Aug 014

The last of the first crop here.
She hadn't produced for a few years, was always going to freezer camp but we never got around to it.

Other than usual stiffness in rear legs she was her normal self; shoving others off the minerals, giving me love grunts while rubbing on my face.

Heard a little barking last night but the dogs are so good at their job we didn't bother.
Everyone else had slept under the stars except Lela; LGD was guarding her body this morning.
Gotta go finish digging her grave. It will hit me later.

It's hard to lose one that has been part of your herd and heart for so long.

Huggs.

Thank you everyone.
One of the first things she did when a kid was jump on this big heavy duty plastic tarp that was temporarily in the pen. Scared the daylights out of her but then she made a game of running & pouncing on it.
Kind of strange to not see her this am.
The reason for the barking was to keep everyone away from her. The one dog still continually amazes me.

So sorry about Lela.
And GREAT LGD. Glad Lela was able to pass peacefully under their protective eye.
