Rut has little to nothing to do with being around females... it is a hormonal season induced by the length of day/season, mostly.

Rut is seasonal--usually in late summer to early spring. Some breeds can go year round like Nigerians and some minis.

We are late winter, spring starting September- & they have been mating- the young girls especially seem to be awful wagging their tails and coming over to the boys who seem to be very pleased to see them ((blushes))
