Boar goat with cut need advice

So one of our boar goats comes in with a slice on her left flank 4" in front of her rear leg, about 4" long through the hide.

We caught her and treated with Blue Coat.....she licked it off. Had the blue tongue to prove it.

Called the Vet they said to mix cayenne pepper with Vaseline. Vaseline to keep the flies off, hot pepper to keep her from licking Vaseline off. She licked it off, loved it. Tried doubling the hot pepper, she liked it even better. Tried tying her, the other goat licked it off.

Vet suggested putting a shirt on her to keep her away from the wound, yea right.

Now she has licked off a patch of hair probably 6" wide by 10" long.

We are thinking about tying her in a stall in the barn, so she can't get to the wound for a couple of weeks.

Are we on the right track, or is there something better to try.

Elizabethan Collar? Or the homemade version...a plastic coffee can, end cut out...cut it down the side, pad ends, duct tape around her neck so she can't bend around to get to her wound.

Take a piece of t-shirt material and glue it liberally to her HAIR around the wound with superglue. Leave the bottom right corner open so you can get to it a bit to look, but not so that she can get to it.

Alternately, use a goat coat. That's the only thing that worked for me when I had a stupid chewer. Kinda... by the time she had a coat on, the damage was done and stayed a hard callus that she would rip open again at the first opportunity without a coat on. We slaughtered her. This was over the course of 2 years though, your girl still has hope, lol.

We use olive oil and tea tree oil. The olive oil to keep the skin from getting crusty and it has healing properties. The tea tree oil is a disinfectant and the goats we've used it on do not like it. They may try licking it once..but leave it off their wish list after that.

Hope she heals quickly.

Tricare is available at most feed stores it is a pain reliever, antibiotic and a water/fly repellant and is my choice of wound care dressings
