Hi guys and girls,
Its been awhile since I've come around here. I needed a break from the forum. It got a little deep here at times and didn't need more drama in my life lol. So I am back and with breeding season right around the corner we took updated photos (some goats acted like goats and I will have to REDO THE PICTURES FOR THE 12321431243 time.) I have some tons of photos but I would like to knows everyone's thoughts on a few the good the bad the ugly please. I love all my goats but need an outside eye. Some will be going to the fairs next month and the bucks will be hitting the buck show in October.
Please do look past my hooves. I had a horrible winter into spring and they got bad. I am working on getting them back together and looking better but it will take time to do so. Also we copper yesterday along with de-worm getting ready for breeding season.
First up is DumDum she is a grade (yearling FF 2 weeks ago).
Second set of pictures is a dry yearling Darla. Darla owns (yes you read that right) a 15 year old young lady. They are two peas in a pod. We only own Darla on papers but in all rights Darla is Alise's baby. I love seeing that bond they have. Darla had a hard time with this winter we had and didn't grow as quickly as I would of liked her to. But she is getting on the right track now and depending on what the next few months will depend on if she is bred this year or not.
Third set of photos is another dry yearling Delilah.
more to come after I do farm chores. Hope you don't mind I post tons of photos.
DumDum (love the name...) I really like this doe. She does toe out in the front and has what appears to be REALLY bad rear pasterns for her age. I think she could use a longer cannon as well. I love that neck, shoulder, back and rump. I think technically teats are supposed to point down towards the ground as well.
Darla - can't decide exactly what it is, but I don't like her side profile in the posed pic in front of the barn. I think she is far to short bodied. Overall she is coarse, her neck is short and not refined enough. Could use a longer cannon here as well for better proportions. Her rump angle is nice, but it seems short. I'd like to see more brisket. She appears wider than your other dry yearling.
Delilah - she isn't posed the best and it makes her look a bit roachy right in front of her hips. Also makes her rump pretty steep. She has a lovely brisket from what I think I see, but for a dark doe you should try a lighter background - she's hard to see. I think she could use better shoulder and seems to need more width in that rump.
I'd like to see them again after they're freshened. Puppies are cute!

Thank you btw her daughter she just had is Gum-Gum. Mom named both from the movie "Night at the Museum" where the Easter Island head said "Hey Dum-Dum you give me Gum-Gum." Dum's register name is It Happens I'm no Dum-Dum and her daughter if it goes through will be It Happens Jd gives me Gum-Gum. Anyways... okay her back on her pasterns that right side is HORRIBLE and it happen three days ago. It was never like that... BoSe shot need? She is toeing out in the front right now and it seems everyone is at my farm.. could it be hoof trimming I am doing is wrong?
Darla... Darla is my hot mess. She is badly in need of copper and when shave her coat is actually a lot nicer looking. I am on the fence with Darla in what to do with her honestly. I am going to breed her this year and see what happens after that.
Delilah is the slowest maturing goat we have ever had but then again so was her mom. Her mom is 4 now and just now will I try to see what happens in the show ring with her. It seems she will take after her mom and and mature even slower. I am excited to see what everyone else thinks and what the judges think also.
More pictures to come after I cook dinner... and send puppy pictures off. but until then heres Gum-Gum and my turd Eerie. 2 weeks on Gum-Gum and Eerie is almost 2 months old and a MOOSE and gets into everything.
I like Eerie best. If you are looking for areas to improve upon, overall I think a buck with good size and especially length and spring of ribs would improve the herd. You might try setting them up so they extend their necks out, rather than so high to improve appearance.
Thank you. Yes I am always looking at ways to improve my herd. I do not want herd blindness so showing and asking others what they think is always on top of my list right there with testing.
