Washing a buck in rut?

My dd is talking about getting married in the backyard in Oct 2015. Is you all know that's prime breeding season and my big boy will be smelling lovely for his girls. I can't move him any farther away form the backyard then he is. I can move him to a neighbors house for the day maybe. But I was wondering about giving him a bath the day before or of the wedding. Would that keep the smell down for the day? Would bathing him mess up breeding season an anyway?

Leave him there and when the preacher asks if anyone objects, stand up and say "This wedding stinks!, from the goat I mean."

You can wash him, he will still work. Not sure how effective it will be, though. I'd probably try a nice spray rinse with white vinegar... If it gets cat pee smell out of everything I've ever tried it on, it ought to work on goat smell... in theory. :P

I know think a case of febreeze would work? lol I would just like to tone the smell down if I can. We're going to have to put up something to block the view to his pen. I don't think him up on his spool put cologne on is what she wants the wedding guest to see at least during the wedding. He might steal the show. lol

My little Nigerian buck Hercules was a special guest at a friend's bachelor party. They were impressed he could get his "special purpose" in his mouth and spray pee 10+ feet. I fortunately didn't have to witness the competitions that resulted from him inventing such genius games for all the guys, but my husband tells me it was hilarious and the significant others of all the guys that were present were happy no strippers were involved. I'm just glad no one could see in our backyard.

Let me know if washing it works. I'd be really curious to hear.

Question... somewhat off topic but somewhat on. I built my buck pen 15 feet away from the back of my house. Was that a bad idea?

Not even 100 baths would take away that stink. And whoever get the lucky task of bathing him (you I presume) is going to smell Bucky for a week. Put a pillow on his head and let him be the ring bearer, instead.

I know the smell won't last a week. We had a dog attack last year during breeding season and I had to doctor my buck everyday for over a week. The smell didn't stay on me after my daily shower. I have a couple of helpers who will be bathing him. I'll have to do a trail run this oct.

Depends on how much you end up disliking buck stank. It doesn't bother me, its just a farm smell. Your visitors/friends/family may not appreciate it though.

Coffee is suppose to take out buck smel...maybe make a coffee grounds paste to wash him with? I personally would not bathe any goat in October, but it's much too cold here for that.

No fears about the cold here. We will probably still be wearing shorts.
