Wound between goat hoof...

This morning I noticed our herd queen was a little slow, once she started walking in front of me I noticed she was favoring her left back leg. Upon closer inspection I found a sore between her hooves. (What is the correct term here?! Claws??) from what I could tell while she was throwing a fit, there is a wound/sore about the size do a dime. Looked like it was where the hoof hairline. It was yellowish and reddish. I didn't notice any odor. I don't think it's hoof rot or scald, but I could be wrong. How would you suggest treating?

Oh, also it's been dry, hot and humid lately. I trimmed her hooves Thursday or Friday and she showed no signs of injury then or last night.

A picture would really help folks here to try & help you figure out what's going on with her hoof but I know goats are not always cooperative.

I would make sure it is cleaned really well with chlorhexadine or a little bleach solution & then probably dip it with something for hoof rot(just in case) & then a wound spray since your not really sure what it is from.
Flies this time of year are so bad you want to make sure she doesn't get screw worms or flies laying anything in there.

If you think it might be infected you can also squirt Penicillin in it too every day or every other might help.
Goat Servant and dozedotz like this.

When my husband was able to help and I got to look again, It was wet, and raw looking. It was above her hoof, and looks like she scrapped it on something. We disinfected it, squirted it with penicillin and then used blu kote. This morning she was moving faster, and the wound itself looked better! Thank you for your help! It's putting the sass back in attitude!

Glad you could finally get a good look & see what was going on & glad she's feeling better already.
I'd keep up with what you did for a week or it's healed good.
