Hilarious and Sort of Backward

We have a dog called Willie. He's a mix between a Chihuahua and a Pomeranion. Pretty small, and very dumb. We sometimes let him in with the goats just because he doesn't care about the goats at all and it's kind of funny. So yesterday we let him in with the does. Luna saw, and decided to teach him a lesson for disturbing her yard. Her hackles were up and head lowered, but she didn't do anything, just a warning. Then she slammed him. He was pretty surprised, but then got right back up . . . and got slammed down again. It was hilarious! He wasn't hurt and had forgotten all about it once he was away from the goats. The best part? A photographer was at our house taking videos of the goats, and she got the whole thing on video!

Honestly I don't see what is so funny. That poor little dog got lucky this time, but it won't take much to do it some serious harm. I guarantee you that he won't find it funny, and neither will your pocket book when you learn how much it will cost to fix him. That's assuming that his luck continues to hold, and he can be fixed.
To put it another way, would you find it so funny if a person who doesn't like dogs near him shoved your dog as hard as the goat did? The dog would be subject to the same amount of force and trauma. Would you be laughing then?

How else is the dog supposed to learn how goats communicate when they've had enough?

It's not necessarily a situation I would encourage but no one was hurt and perhaps the dog gained a little wisdom.

Please don't let him in again! Small dogs have no chance and can be hurt badly, especially with a goat who is used to animals listening to her warnings.

When I was a kid, my neighbors annoying tiny dog got into my pasture and my horses played soccer with him. There was nothing I could do and they killed him.

You sometimes let him in to watch him get beat up because it's "funny?"

Your goats could seriously injure or kill him. That's not a laughing matter, not when it was purposefully done. That's something you laugh about later if it was an accident and no one got hurt, but not something you do on purpose. If I misunderstood I apologize, but if not...I don't find it funny to intentionally endanger an animal.

Yeah....not sure what was so funny. I find it incredibly mean you'd let your doe head butt your small dog and not step in to protect him. Poor dog.

Shame on you! What a nasty, cruel thing to do to a little dog!

Goats headbutt sometimes just to be mean. One of my favorite does had her shoulder broken simply eating from a feeder the other doe coveted. I had to put her down. She was in tremendous pain. Just saying.

Sorry, I'm going to have to also say I don't think it's funny, the way it's described. Smaller animals that are intentionally allowed to intrude into the space of territorial, larger animals and then standing by while they get 'slammed' is not funny. It wasn't an accident (dog didn't need to be trained, he wasn't there by accident) and there was no indication of trying to stop the physical attack in advance (...hackles were up...) or even after the first attack.

Sounds like animal baiting to me.

Whew, sounds scary for the little dog. I have a 65ish pound Treeing Walker Coonhound and one time he got too close to the goat fence and the alpha doe rammed him when she was on one side and he was on the other. That seemed like it hurt. I can't imagine a goat actually getting ahold of a much smaller dog

Little dogs are so delicate! I've accidentally busted a rib on a chihuahua by tripping over it in the dark. My foot seemingly just slid it across the floor, but in reality I actually did a lot of damage without realizing it! I felt terrible. The little dog was in so much pain, and the vet bill was not cheap.

Please be careful and protect him. Little dogs may think they're bigger than they are, so that is where you step in and help them with their boundaries. This doesn't sound entertaining at all. Just imagine how you would feel if a giant creature punted you around like a soccer ball.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I got to agree with the others on this one.
