Goat breaking in our new dog

Got a new dog. Best guess is blue heeler / Australian shepherd cross. Just over a year old and hasn't been exposed to livestock yet. He got thrown in the deep end yesterday. Though y'all would get a kick out of this sequence of photos where Logan the Alpine teaches Utah an important life lesson... KEEP AN EYE ON THE GOATS!!

Fascinated by Donnie the rooster, Utah doesn't notice Logan tiptoeing up behind him.

"Got your camera read? Okay, watch this..."

... it's too late! Young and quick, Utah spins away and only catches a glancing blow. Logan wasn't too serious about it anyway. He just wanted to teach the new guy not to underestimate an herbivore!

Seven years ago our lab was minding her own business when she got creamed by a goat.

She hasnt gotten near a goat since. Poor dog.

That's the closest thing to a "horse laugh"
as you'll ever see on a goat's face.

Certainly 'satisfaction' comes close . . .
