Sticker shock!

was browsing around the net just now thinking about what I could plant on the ten acres to the north of the house. came across a place claiming to have just what I need for dryland farming in the desert...only 400.00 per acre for seed! I think I am planting weed instead!

LOL! That would be more profitable... Look at what's in the mix and buy the seeds seperately. "Ready made" and "customized" stuff is always going to be top dollar.

I'm mixing my own pasture mix. I broadcast lespidiza, bahalia seeds i bought at the coop. The other day i was at a place where the orchard grass was in seed and red clover. I picked a wal-mart sack full of the seed pods and took them home to broad cast. Now when I'm out somewhere and see some plant i like with seed heads i grab the seeds and bring them home to throw out on the pasture. It is working.
