Wormer Dosage

Our vet sent out some wormer for my goats. It is Strongid -T. All fine and good but on the label they have dosages for horse, dogs and cats. No goats. I am using it ONLY for my goats. Does anyone know the correct dosage in cc's.

Thanks so much!

Not sure what to tell you since you don't say what worms the vet is trying to target. The only time I have used this was with a type of ivermectin. This to target tapeworms and the ivermectin to target other worms the goat had.
Unless, you are looking to get tapeworms I don't think this will get much. Only way to know would be to have a fecal count done before and about 10 days later.

I don't think strongid is good for anything but tapes in goats, and tapes in goats are no biggie except in kids.

the above is a list I follow when needing to worm anyone.
You should ask the vet what worm he is trying to take care of. You may need a different wormer. Some vet's don't always know what to use for goats.

I think I will head to the vet this week and ask. He pretty much handed to me as we were putting two horses down this weekend so I was not really in a frame of mind to take in too much of the hows and whys. I figured they would have the goat dose on it but they didn't. Not sure what they are trying to treat. Again I wasn't really paying attention to what he was saying. I am sure they will let me know when I call in the morning.

Thanks all. I am still on the learning curve with these guys. I appreciate the help.

Very few dewormers are 'approved' for use in goats... and your average vet is not knowledgeable enough to know what is used/dosages for products used off-label. The problem is that the common approved dewormers are next to useless due to being on the market so long and overused.

Yes, always double check any vet information on parasites in goats, coccidia and worms.
