OMG I cannot believe I did this !!

I gave my goats some Vit B Complex this morning, then took all needles into house, cleaned the needles out well, separated them into their smaller parts and then placed all parts (including needles) in small sauce pan with some water. I turned on the burner and forgot them.

OMG now I have nothing but melted plastic all over the floor of my only small saucepan. It doesn't want to come out.

Has anyone ever done this; and if so, how do you get that plastic out while saving your sauce pan?

Alice I do so appreciate your effort to help; however, that entire thread speeks only of getting melted plastic off the "outside" of a pan, not melted syringes, etc. like I have. Thus, the suggestions made are not helpful in my situation.

Since my pan is small, I cannot get a tool inside near the bottom for scraping purposes as my hand simply will not get in with the tool. (They would both need to be in a horizontal position down there and the pan is only about 6" diameter where the melted plastic syringes are.)

Put the pot in the freezer and then find a screwdriver or something to chip the frozen plastic out.

It would seem you need to bring the pan with water in it to the correct temperature and maybe a disposable razor or gentle scraping with a small paint scraper?

Is this a Stainless pan?

This pan is one of a set, i.e. "Scanpan made in Denmark" and too expensive to toss.

I'll try your suggestion first Rick; and if that doesn't work, I'll try yours Katie.

What I did that worked!

I put some water in the pan as Rick suggested, heated it to boiling and, while it was boiling, used a flat-nose screwdriver to loosen a part of it and raise it a bit. Then I used a set of pliers and pulled the plastic right out. Thank you so much Rick. My pan is saved!

I once STARTED to melt some plastic AI speculums in a pot which I'd been boiling them in (ran out of water), but then started smelling it. They were warped and opaque so unusable, but I caught it before the pots had plastic stuck on. Glad you saved your expensive pan!
