There's lots of things you could pick up doing mouth to mouth on kids. However in our small, intensely managed farms, I would bet we're either aware of whats going on in our herd or are exposed to it anyway. I would imagine it's mostly used on newborns, and newborns born without breathing may be suffering from an abortive disease. You don't really want to give mouth to mouth to an animal covered in birthing slime that is dying from the result of an abortive disease.
