How do you get your goats to stand nicely for photos?
I want to take pictures for my website

Mine stand nicely... on top of me and in my face when they see a camera. Excellent for those funny greeting card nostril shots.

You take 500 pictures and hope for a good one. As a former high school yearbook sponsor, I can tell you that it's even more frustrating that photographing basketball games.

Okay sorry I am done laughing now.... . It helps to have a helper (or two) holding the goat and setting them up while you take photos. And after that, practice, patience and maybe some adult beverages to keep your sanity .

Get your best goat handler to set the goat up (pick a neutral dark background or lovely clipped lawn).
Have them tweak the back - hop around in a crouched position taking multiple digital pictures - we like the ones with the doe/goat facing forward better - shows their long lines. Then look at the pictures - crop out things like children's toys or the dog etc. We always crop out the holder as much as possible (no face/head shots). Looking for all goat.
Make sure to take pictures of your doe with some milk in her udder - first thing in the morning pre-milking is good.
Make sure no shadows in the picture - or minimal.
Take some pictures of rear udder . We prefer to take (and to see) from the rear feet up - don't just take pictures of the udder with no reference points. Frame the picture with the udder, as it were...
PS We were at a show and the side pictures background was good - we had to take what we could get for the udder shot. such a pretty udder speaks
for itself, so I didn't get fussed with the background busy-ness.

Note: The second picture is what we prefer, but the 1st picture gave a close-up that showed up better on Facebook.
PS If you did it right, your knees will hurt later LOL.

Take a hint form the show goat breeders. They don't fuss around with any nonsense. Their goats stand properly because they are expected to. It takes time and effort to put in the training required. It's not rocket surgery, but still don't expect to go into a pen and get it done without previous preparation, giggles and quirky shots notwithstanding.

I have a terrible time posing the goats for pictures & then they don't stand like I want them too.
I just keep taking pictures & hope 1 or some are going to work, mostly they don't. Very frustrating for me!
I think Justine's got it, adult beverages!!

Both! You get the added benefit and hopefully the goat has a low tolerance which makes taking photos easier...if you don't mind propping them up every once in a while .

Honestly, if you want my opinion? Snap a whole bunch of photos quickly while they aren't jumping around to make sure it's not totally blurry . . . and hopefully catch them doing something funny!

I don't have knowledgeable help to take pictures. Which is why my pictures are so out of date. My dad is willing to snap a picture or two, but that's it - he has no patience for a goat photo shoot, and neither do I really. And I don't show or really ever have a need to lead them anywhere, so they're wiggling about despite my normally firm hand. Usually eventually I get a good one, and It stays up on my website for a few years. :P

My favorite photo of all time has absolutely none of the required elements of tasteful, muted background, beautifully posed goat, etc., etc. But it is still my favorite and it was just dumb luck...(for those of you who have seen it a million times, I apologize: but it is my favorite!)

There was stuff in the background??
How to get good photos: You end up with a bunch like the first one and then give up and have your husband just start walking the goats around like the second one...
