Sorry, they just aren't cheap. Watch local farm auctions. I bought mine for $115 from a guy in Russia via Ebay. It works great!

well, if you are looking for a newish modern one, then you are probobly looking for a plava brand. They are made in Russia. I believe that you cannot get it without a butter churn too which brings the price up to about $200 new

but Plava is probobly the brand you are looking for

I bought one of the manual Plavas from Ebay last September and it never arrived. :waa: So now I, too, am on the hunt for a good one...but I want to avoid the plastic...I want hand crank and as much in stainless steel as I can get...knowing that I can get a brand new one from Hoegger's for less than $400... Hoping for less - saw one in the paper at an auction this weekend that I'll be going to look at. But I'm new to this so need a manual, too. Not likely to find one at an auction...

Good luck on your search and keep us posted if you find something "inexpensive" that looks to be a good separator! I've heard good things about the Plavas from those who actually *got* theirs...

very good prices , very good. We got a manual one off of ebay, and the instructions were in russian. so if this is from ebay, make sure the instructions are in english, other wise you are going to need one big magifying glass to see the pictures, to see how to put it together. the picture was a good one, just very tiny, got one of those big maginfying glasses at the dollar store, and could see how todo it. ha hahahahahahahaaaa

We got our 2 gal electric one off of e-bay at a very good price $50ish, a 1950's model very loud when it goes off other than that great. I have heard if you buy a new one get the Russian brand, its a lot cheaper than other brands and as good. This information came from one who works at one of the goat supply catalog stores.

I got one on ebay, from Russia, but you got to remember the directions are in Russian. really. but we finally got it figured out and it works great!!!!!!!!!We paid 60$ for ours. just got to watch the bids. good luck, the goat supply places also have them , but for more money, but the directions are in english, and they give gareunte which just might be good to have.
