Tape-weighed my goats -- surprises!

As some of you suggested, I tape-weighed my goats because it wasn't urgent so I didn't want to actually weigh them but was curious for estimates. The ones I tape-weighed are all Nigerian Dwarfs, and I checked to make sure it worked by tape weighing Bella, a ten-week-old doeling that I have weighed recently. The tape-weighing said she was 10-11 pounds, which sounds right, so I'm taking the tape measure's word for the weights! I guess we were pretty close in our estimates, but there were definitely some surprises in there!
Luna, 2-year-old doe: about 51 pounds (we thought she was 45)
Hazel, 2-year-old milking doe: about 51 pounds (we thought around 50!)
Clover, 2-year-old doe: about 57 pounds (we thought around 50)
Sundae, 2-year-old doe: about 54 pounds (we thought around 50)
Annabeth, 4-year-old doe: about 81 pounds (we thought around 75)
Toby, 1-year-old buck: about 54 pounds (we thought around 45)
Arthur, 2-year-old buck: about 51 pounds (we thought around 57)

They can fool you! I always hear that the tape "weighs" them a little heavier than they are...but I don't know if that is true or not. We weigh with an ADGA approved barn scale for the little ones until they get too big or too wiggly...and the tape seems pretty close to the scale weight.

For the little ones, when we need to give them meds, we just bring them in the house and use the regular human scale. Hey, it works . . . LOL.
