Angora kid pictures

I'm mostly a sheep person but I know how you all love baby pictures and felt bad keeping these from you.

I thought my buck was a dud but 5 months rolled around and we started having kids. 4 doelings from 3 does! The buck is still pretty dumb but I guess he can stick around.

Truffle, a brown like her daddy but with really rich red tones. She's a day older than Taffy.

And the new girls who were born on Tuesday. One is a white and the other is a pale fading red.

Beautiful girls! I hope they're all strong and healthy. I can't wait to have some Angora kids of my own in a couple years!

Those are ridiculously cute! They should have a story...no, wait: they should live with me and then have a story! LOL. All babies should look like that...and then just make milk and not have to be shorn when they grow up...can you do that?

I really don't mind shearing (which is good because I have 14 of them now who all need done twice a year). It takes me 15-20 minutes per goat and with my dog clippers they never get cut. I find it really satisfying to see them all slick and shiny and looking like "real" goats afterwards.

Plus the yarn we end up with is gorgeous!

Cannon Farms I don't know any off the top of my head but the angora goats for sale group on FB is pretty active, as is the colored angora goat group.

CL is a big issue in a lot of the larger commercial flocks, especially out of Texas, so you're right to be wary but I think I only know of one person who has ever actually tested. And she was practically run out of the groups on a rail for suggesting people check over bucks they were buying from Texas auctions.

I've never had any abscesses in my herd and none of the people I've bought from have had any either but I also don't tend to buy from people with large, show focused herds. Look for smaller herds or herds owned by vets and they'll probably be willing to test for you on your dime. If you were looking up north I'd be happy to point you to some folks!
