exterior almost finished
My milk house is coming along in spite of thunderstorms almost every day. The windows and door are in, and the trim is going on.

Why are these loading sideways? It's vertical in my folder.

Only see one picture and it's not sideways. Are you making a ramp? Do you have another exit?

Yes, it will have a ramp. No, only one exit.

Even sideways it's beautiful. I'm jealous. Thanks for posting the picture. How many do you milk?

I'm down to TWO, which is abnormal.
I lost my favorite doe to pneumonia this winter.

Other than the fact that you decided to make it "sideways" it really looks good, Alice!! lol
Totally envy you!! I would love to at least get some air conditioning into my little milking room inside the barn. I have to leave the door open for air and the flies and I are really going to battle. I have two fans running, but it does not seem to "disrupt their flight pattern" which includes diving into the bucket!! Now, we have sneaky little wrens (I love them) who have decided to raise a brood above the hanging cabinets on the wall. I was not aware of them at all until recently when the babies got big enough to start making real noise when the parents arrive with food. Climbed up on my milking stool and found the nest snuggled behind a pair of barn boot I threw up there (should have thrown them out...just couldn't pull the trigger). The cats do venture into that area and I have seen the tom cat climb up there...had I known what the wrens were up to I would have tried to stop them (good luck with that...they are very determined once they choose a site). Anyway, I will continue to think about you in your lovely new milk house in glamorous surroundings while I continue to complain (loudly), fight the flies and defend the wrens...

Wow, that's amazing! Maybe my computer didn't load them but did you post pictures of the interior as well? Congratulations!

Interior is a work in progress. The electric is going in today. Outlets UP so that washing the floor isn't dangerous. Two fluorescent fixtures. More than one circuit so that I can make choices.

Because it's a goat milk house.
I can hear hooves against the bottom of that door...
Tap..tap...tap...where's my oats?...tap..tap..tap..
Tell us more! Watcha got in there? A fridge? Running water? Heat for winter? Enough heat to give up TX?
For the record, if you ever want to be cruel to the ol' Abe, just post an upside down picture. Something about them makes me lose my cookies. Sideways ain't so bad, but it's close.

It has a frost free stand pipe and faucet already.
Don't know yet about a fridge. Thinking about it. If it's a fridge for milk, I'd have to bring the milk to the house, filter, bottle, then carry it back out. Maybe too much hassle.
Still haven't decided on interior wall "finishing". Dairy board (the bumply plastic sheets) are $36 each, which yields a daunting total.
Will have a heater in it in the fall, but not "heat" as in a heated room. Just enough heat to keep me from freezing as I milk.
Right now, the gap between the upper edge of the walls and the room creates convection for natural cooling.

Why don't you just glue sheet vinyl over wallboard? Home Depot has 1/2 inch wallboard for 5.99 right now.

I clicked on the image and it is still sideways and just one but wanted to say hooray for you! I'm still parlourless and am happy to see others building theirs.
