material for milk house interior?

I'm getting a milk house made from recycled materials. It has wood wall studs, recycled sheet metal exterior walls, recycled metal roof, recycled windows and door.

I was *thinking* of putting that fiberglass panel stuff on the inside until I priced it today. $34 a sheet. Um. No.

Any other suggestions? I'd like it to be waterproof and washable.

If you have more of the recycled metal you could use that. Otherwise the cheapest option that my grandparents used was recycled vinyl siding on the interior. They ended up going that route because it didn't require horizontal nailers like the metal would have. Which saved them all of 50 bucks in lumber. If you already have the metal I would continue with that on the inside for a more waterproof layer.

If you were closer I would suggest these so you could pick them up.

Don't know if they still carry it. But the salvage place on hwy 63 by kosh. Had sheets of white paneling like stuff. It was plastic like. Waterproof. Neighbors called it dairy board ??? Can't recall the price. But MUCH less than $34 a sheet

I didn't see any today at Ozark Salvage in the main building. I'll call them tomorrow. Maybe it is some place else there.

This is what I was looking at in Thayer. I found it online with a Google search for dairy board.

I've been thinking of a block house on a slab with drains.

Susie, yes, I think it was the FRP that is now so expensive.

Doug, I have the slab and drains. Just need washable interior walls.

Alice, I didn't get the true dairy board. It was just a slick white masonite board. I think we either got it at Covers or Kosh. Seems like it was around $15 for a 4x8 sheet. It is thin so you gave to glue it to plywood or pressed wood.

It has so far. But I have only had it up since about the first of March. You do have to have something solid behind it though or it would buckle easily.

I think I know what coso is talking about, look for white hardboard. Cost about 13-14 dollars a 4x8 sheet. You can get strips to keep moisture away from the edges, too.

Old plastic or metal campaign signs might work, but you could also just use gypsom board intended for bathrooms (more moisture tolerance) and paint it with a high gloss paint. The higher the gloss, the easier it is to wipe clean. If you use an exterior paint you could probably just hose the walls down from time to time.
