If you could choose any herdsire from ANYWHERE without
price restriction show me who it would be (or out of who/m)!
Go!

been there.. did that .. just this past month..
I brought home a Saada buckling (littler brother to Saada's new jr buck.. they choose to keep.. he is a combo of the two dam lines they have, that I've always drooled over.. SGCH Saada El-Levitica and her 1/2 sister Saada El-Farajah)..going after their really spotted lines for these buys.. already own two blk & white spotted 1/2 Saada bucks..
BUT.. I had also always wanted a Goldthwaite buck.. so.. got one of those too.. (not only that but he has the solid ears that I love AND he is G6S NORMAL. a big thing when dealing with that bloodline. I knew I wanted one of her black with extended copper that the herd is known for.. also needed a different sire line then the big blue BOOTONNIERE buck -since I also bought a Bootonniere daughter, out of one of her really tightly Omar line bred older does... Moose, as we call the buckling.. is everything I had hoped for at this
Oh.. while not my personal favorite..
I know a lot of folks also love Kastdemur.. lovely goats, but more then 1/2 Kastdemur.. just don't make my heart pitter patter...so I also brought home a buck that combines a lot of the older pacific northwest lines that I love.. sired by a Kastdemur lined buck.. (the guy I bought LOOKS like a Kastdemur boy).. he also brings in more Price o the Field Royal Marcus which I've been adding to the herd.
this was my year to buy.. been dreaming about it for a long time (brought home a doe and buck from all three herds I've always wanted to add... have reserves for a few more does next year) If I'm honest.. I would be hard pressed to come up with any other herd sire I'd want at this point.. (there are lots of lovely herds out there.. but I know what does and doesn't blend with what I've based my own herd on.. so I've kept to what lines I know will work with my own girls.. other folks might well have different loves/dreams)
and NO I don't want to think about cost... It still makes me sort of weak in the knees to add it all up LOL

I am hoping to get a replacement buck from Copper Pennies for my Saanens. I am saving right now to afford the best boy I can and have him shipped out to me in Florida!

I think you will be pretty excited when you see the Jr. Herdsires we will
be using this year...
And thank you so much for the compliment.

A buck from Dill's. Specifically would love one from their doe Intrigue: http://dillsalittlegoatfarm.com/ndseniordoes.htm but last I heard she had a waitlist of 6 or 7 and it may be longer now. Or a buck from Keena could be pretty amazing also...or her sire, XM, who I think is deceased or at the very least, has been sterile for quite awhile.
An alpine buck I love is Redwood Hill's Revolution Speed...and I was lucky enough to use him on a doe when Tracy owned him...wish I woulda been smart and brought more does up there!

If you could choose any herdsire from ANYWHERE without
Didn't buy a full Saada like Susie did but I bought a Saada crossed with Lakeshore, Riverside Ranch and Akin hills.
Then I bought a full Goldthwaite buck (and 4 Goldthwaite does) This buck is out of Bootineere and Tallahatchee.
So I was done. I already had Troubador who carries Wingwood, Jacobs Pride and a few other old lines.
Wait!!!! Jana Bullis calls me and says the spotted buck out of her best doe that was AI with Alize take it to the Limit just became available because of something happened with the people that had him reserved. This bucks background includes Apache Valley Pride owned by Lakeshore (and Joy EX92EEEE, DK Kovergirl, Alize Kharm Personified and other famous does and bucks. His dam you ask. Hoanbu KFE Easy to Imagine 91EEE.

Can't stand it. Gotta share. Becky Goldthwaite told me that something happened with a doe she promised some people from California so she had to give them my doe. She is giving me a doe that she was going to keep in it's place. I couldn't be happier. This is a yearling.

I already did :P. Well I have my Fir Meadow bucks but I would have LOVED to get a Tempo buck before Laura Acton decided to get out of LaManchas. The other lines I love are the old style LaManchas. I like some of Shammy's, Purple Thistle and Barnowl (getting a buck from Barnowl next year!) but what I really love are those old style BIG bodied does and bucks .
This doe
Tempo Katya is one of my FAVORITE does ever. I love her deep body and old style type, I have her lines in my herd and in fact my old herd queen and the doe who started off my herd was her granddaughter.
The doe below is Katya's granddaughter, not the best photo but you can see that deep body. I miss my Brandy Girl .

Anyways I mainly love the old style lines and the older lines of LaManchas you see .

... Cannot resist as I've been so fortunate in my herd bucks.
My first was an Alpine we called Luke. He "voluntarily" pushed a 30 ft long tree trunk down to where we needed it as a stud for his barn. (David put it on a wagon and pulled the wagon while I balanced it and kept it on the wagon. When Luke saw this, he came over, lowered his head and pushed the back of that wagon over 200 ft to help us.)
My next herd buck (after I decided to strictly keep Nubians) was Chateau Bryant So-Gay Roman (the red one below) who had GCH on both sides for 3 generations. He was bottle fed, would "heel" all the way to the mail box and back for a bite of corn and often came over to snuggle, putting his head gently on my back and pushing for attention.
The herd buck I have now is Roman's son, Sir Alginon. Alginon's mother was an all red doe with a beautiful udder who gave over a gallon a day for a 10-month lactation. Alginon (like his sire) consistently throws heavy milkers with great udders. Alginon pulls the mesh sheets of hay from the pasture to the barn for me and walks beside me when he sees me out and about, letting me lean on him to walk if my hip starts hurting.
My next buck will be strictly purchased for meat production and will probably be a Boer that I will bottle feed and train similarly to the way I would train a service dog...only for what is done outside the home as opposed to inside the house.

I have acquired a HANDSOME tri-color MiniMancha buck from Nehimama to breed to my tri-color MiniMancha doe.
His name is Melange. Pic to be added here later.

I got lucky buying my buck from a (now) good friend of mine. His dam is a 2gal/day producer and both parents have strong LA scores. He is the sweetest thing on 4 legs.
My new jr herdsire - out of my SG Grace-Hill Magnolia 1*M, and sired AI by SG Sunshine Rehma Reprise - I also kept a sister.
The boys are buddies. Calix (Sr) is so laid back and gentle that when I moved the buckling in the pen I didn't worry a single bit - his sister that moved into the doe herd had a MUCH worse time being picked on, poor thing. :P
Thank goodness for AI, I can get much better genetics that way than what I could afford buying as a live sire -I am a poor student and also can't afford to transport/ship on top of purchase price. I would love an Iron Rod buck or perhaps a Tempo buck - but I'm trying to stick with PB alpines. I am lucky to get my hands on some semen from Lady-K LKWE Ashe-Vegas and Tempo Aquila Danziger, that I'll be picking up at nationals.

I, too, got a Saada buckling this year and right now I am super happy with him. I cannot wait to use him. If I could pick any buck...I can't think of one better enough I'd want to swap right now.
