Question Please help me price my doe

She is a registered purebred Nubian in milk. She is a great milker but has smaller teats and that is harder on my hands.

She is putting out about 1 gallon a day on just the chaffhaye, browse and a handful of pellet treats a day. She will put out more with better treats/grain She is leaner but milks like crazy (Not bad with the weight or anything but tends to lean to the thinner side instead of fat)

She is from Nubilop Acres and her lineage is here: http://www.adgagenetics.org/GoatDeta...ber=N001527542

I will go get photos of her here in a bit when I have one of the kids to help me.

Any ideas what I should price her at or what other info I need to include?

Every market is different but her sire has a really good LA score for a buck, and the dam to be appraised at her age has a good score based on scores alone and production I could see $300-400 depending on what her conformation is like. However even though I see a lot of SG in her pedigree that may be something you have to ask Yarrow on as I have not even heard of those herd names before but a lot of the older stuff I dont know

Ultimately she is worth what people will pay for her. In my area, I bet she would fetch $250 if she is young. Less if she wasn't pregnant. I think if you were to make an equation to determine what your livestock is worth it would include controls for the socioeconomic status of the area you live in as well as your proximity to large goat dairies.

There are no goat dairies that I know of around here? We are in the NE KS, SE NE, NW MO area. I tried to get a few pics today but her udder wasn't full (rain tonight so I didn't wait) and they aren't great pics. I'll try to get decent side/top line pic tomorrow if it's not too rainy

Being far away from large goat dairies is a really good thing. They totally deflate goat prices. There's one near me that runs 900 does and sells all of their kids for anywhere from $15-25 for bucklings and up to $35 for doelings. That is wicked hard to compete with.

Edit: PS, I don't see any of the pictures.

here.. I would price at non less then $400..
be sure to mention the Nubilop-Acres (they were well known in this part of the country)..
I'm having folks calling me all the time looking for does in milk (we don't have any for sale).. so I know there is a demand that is exceeding the supply..
she's CAE tested, I would assume?? Push that and that she doesn't have CL when you advertise her..
good luck

susie, mo ozarks
