Is this a real breed?
I just saw someone selling "mini macha" kids. I've never heard of this before. Is it a real breed or just poor breeding? The kids are on the moms. Would you buy a kid raised on the mom or are they too wild? Anyone with experience here?

The "mini" (then whatever standard) are a breed that many of us are starting by using a nigerian dwarf buck on a standard doe. Then using the offspring to start the new mini breed. They are being registered with these registries.

There websites also include much info on these breeds.

I started my own herd of MiniManchas.
I used LaMancha does and Nigerian Dwarf bucks. The percentage for American and purebred can't exceed 70% of either breed.
I'm trying to get all with gopher ears, I personally don't like elf ears.

Yes. It's real. Mine are registered.

I've wondered what the advantage of this breeding is and why it's different than kinder goats?

I don't know much at all about kinders. I recall doing some research and I didn't find any breeders near me. I really like the LaMancha and wanted a smaller goat. There are also no MiniMancha breeders around me so this is why I started my own.

Addressing the mom raised vs the bottle raised question, as long as the babies are handled regularly in a kind and loving manner they will not be wild. There are several threads on here that will tell you more about this issue. Everyone has a preference or opinion about it. It really depends on how you want to raise them. My goats are a mixture of both bottle and dam raised and they are all in your face, on your lap, please pet me, sweeties. Mostly because I treat them like pets (even the slaughter wethers).

They make a substantial amount of milk on very little feed. Plus, they are so darn cute!

A good buy for first time goats? I really wanted Lamancha but I have to say the mini version sounds really appealing to me.

How much milk are you wanting? They don't sound like they give all that much, but I don't know enough about smaller goats yields to say if they are good producers for that type or not. Another thought is hand and teat size. A friend of mine has ND's and I hate milking them just because I have large hands and they have small teat size.
I think they are a bit pricey, but admittedly I am cheap. I am not interested in registered goats either. Purely personal preference there. Also I seem to notice that the mini's go for more than full size.
There aren't any good udder pics there but they sound like they are worth going to take a look at. Then you can really look at the animals, the udders, the teats, how friendly they are, etc. It's a perfectly valid excuse to go look at goats.

It is quite a drive for me so if I make it I'm coming home with a goat. lol
For milk I'm looking at enough for my family and that's it. About 2 gallons a week on average.
I've seen so many prices for different goats and breeds that I'd say that is fairly average. $50 more than the full size LaMancha's I was looking at but if they eat less that'll be a bonus as far as my husband is concerned.
Registered or not doesn't matter to me. Just looking for family milkers.

Thank You, Alice. That's what I'm aiming for in ALL the minis I breed!
