Pygmy goat with a hard utter

I have a 2 year old pygmy goat that just had her first baby and has one hard utter. She's our first to ever have this problem. It doesn't seem hot or lumpy or bloody like mastitis. I'm able to milk out the excess so I don't think it's clogged. Is it possible since she had just one that he's picked a favorite side? How serious is this? I feel horribly that I can't fix it for her. Any advice?

Has she been tested for CAE? That's the first question that popped into my mind.

If only half of her udder is hard, it is most likely full from the kid nursing the other side, like you thought.

You should milk it out twice a day. Massage with udder salve, like "Dynamint - Peppermint Udder Cream." Feed stores usually have it.

It must be milked out regularly so that it doesn't get mastitis or dry off too soon.
