Question What color is this? And naming ideas, please ;)

I'm filling out the registration paperwork for the Nupine doeling I'm keeping, but I have no idea what to call her coloring. Is "buckskin" even a color in the goat world? I'm registering her as experimental since I don't have the dam's paperwork. I called the ADGA today and found out the dam is still in the breeder's name (the breeder told me she was sold with papers), which explains why the guy I got her from keeps avoiding me.

The one I'm registering is the one on the right (scratching her ear). If you have any good naming ideas, those are appreciated too. I'd love something Native American if possible, but I'm drawing a complete blank.

I call it beautiful . What I call a buckskin is different than what I would call that doe. I think if she was pure alpine you could call it Chamoisee, so I would put her color as maybe a Dun Chamoisee if she was mine. I would maybe put broken as well since she has white on her feet.

Just my two cents!

I named her Jack's EM Kenzie (short for Meckenzie, which is Gaelic).

If ownership is still in the breeder's name, contact the breeder and tell them the situation. Maybe the breeder will be willing to call ADGA for you, have them reissue papers, and send them to you.

I'll forward her a copy of the email I sent to the ADGA today.

Maybe I'm wrong but seeing all kinds of colors on paperwork there doesn't seem to be many rules for describing Nubian colors. I leave mine blank on kids applications and tell the buyers to pick for themselves - if there is a certain mark they know her/him by, perhaps add that for identification purposes. If you intend to show - be sure to note the color of her undercoat - as goats with a show clip you will only see the undercoat. Even then - I know some judges don't look at the color much, because guide lines are loose or their just isn't a name for everything Tattoos that match are more important.

What a cutie! :-) She is genetically a chamoisee. :-) I would register as Chamoisee with frosted ears, white poll, and white right front pastern.

Buckskin in goats is a completely different pattern, with dark front end and lighter tan/red/etc back end.

I know that this is a nigerian dwarf specific website but here is a link to a page with good examples of some of the different goat colors. http://nigeriandwarfcolors.weebly.co...-patterns.html

I like it! I haven't submitted the paperwork yet, so anything is possible. Thanks!
