Exclamation Sick doe?

I have two pregnant does that are due to kid on June 5 and 11. We've noticed they have been breathing a bit heavy for a couple days and have been keeping a closer eye on them. They've also been laying around a bit more than usual but attributed it to being close to kidding. FF Saanen and 2nd freshener mini-nubian.

I am getting a bit concerned. The mini-nubian started acting off tonight. She's now grinding her teeth and grunting. Heading out to take her temp now. She is eating normally. Keeps getting up and down to eat hay. Her tail is wagging a lot and she keeps pawing at the ground (we just cleaned out their stall this evening and she's pawing at the new pine shavings). She's also chewing/licking on her front legs. No discharge at all. Feed is 2/3 alfalfa pellets, 1/3 whole oats. Handful of corn and BOSS. Has access to minerals and baking soda.

Thoughts? Pregnancy toxemia? Treatment? Also, how dire of a situation is this?

Just took temps. The teeth grinder is 102.3 and the other is 103.4

We gave each doe a dose of probiotics and a mix of Karo/molasses.

My diagnosis would be pregnancy! :-) The only thing that sounds remotely off to me is licking or chewing at her front legs. That could be mites OR normal behavior and you're just watching her TOO closely! It sounds like she's in good hands.

Really, lol? Is it really normal to start grinding teeth three weeks before kidding?

Are you positive of their due dates?

Yes, very sure of the dates. I did not even take them to the breeder until the evening of December 29th. She visually confirmed breedings on January 6th for Skittle and January 12 for Ruby Mae. I picked them up the next day from her place.

Yes, some of mine have ground their teeth a few weeks pre-labor. We usually associate grinding with contractions. But backache and ligaments stretching cause discomfort too. If it seems early, bear in mind, multiples normally come a few days early.

Good to know. Thank you. She is pretty huge. As a FF, she had one buckling and I am pretty convinced there are at least twins. This will be the first time we've kidded and I want to ensure her health as much as possible.
