New Kid (single)

52 hours after we induced her labor, Emily came over because I could not figure out what in the world I was feeling when I went in to see what was holding things up.

Dead, mummified kid. Buckling.

BUT there was also a very pretty doeling - live - who is now out there with her mom.

Still tired and trying to catch up. More details (and better pics) later.

I am sorry for the loss of the first baby. Your little doeling sure is a pretty little girl though <3

Tango, no idea. It happens, but what is a miracle is how a healthy doe's body will encapsulate - mummify - a dead fetus, thereby preserving the rest of the kids.

Amazing.

We're still a bit tired as we were up all Thursday night in shifts, but SO glad and grateful that Trub and doeling are well.

How wonderful to have this pretty little girl.

What does a mummified kid feel like?

If I'd known that what I was feeling was a tiny kid, I'd have nailed it. But it felt like... Well, the shape was kind of like oblong... like a small hand without fingers, I guess.

I just couldn't think of what sort of strange alien could be growing inside my goat, and worried that this was some sort of weird tumor - I was quite afraid to pull on it, for fear my doe might bleed out.

Good to have an idea if it should be something to run into. I'm glad everyone is ok.

I just wish I could describe it better. Maybe Emily can... She knew what it was right away, but I think she's seen it before.
