Totally unscientific question :)

How many kids are typical for a FF? One of my FF mini-nubians last year had twins and the other had a singleton. One of the mini-nubians is bred again and due to kid June 5th. She is visibly pregnant and it's pretty obvious. I have a FF standard Saanen who is due June 11th and she doesn't even have a bump at all, lol.

Is 1-2 pretty expected for a FF? Does breed, standard vs. mini, play into this at all?

I'm wondering too, I had all 3 LaMancha does give me twins last year. This year, two F1 MiniMancha and two of the LaMancha does had singletons. I only had one out of 5 give me twins.

When I was at the vets office, it was suggested I didn't grain enough before pregnancy.

1 has been the norm for us, with an occasional pair of twins. Haven't had any triplets out of a FF, yet.

I wonder why that is?

Prolificacy has a good genetic influence. Also, pre breeding management and condition plays a huge role in number of kids born. Here, we flush the doe herd pre-breeding to encourage more eggs to drop.

Historically for us, twins for FF is the most common.

Our FF have had have had twins or triplets...no singles. I expected singles and was very surprised. Only one of our girls was held over for an extra year...she was the one who had twins.

The breed for sure will play a part in number of babies. FF are more likely than any to have singles. I have had singles, twins, and triplets from ff, and the does that usually give me more babies are Nigerians and minis. Nubians have a lot of babies I have heard as well. Saanens tend to have fewer babies.

My Nigerians have been good for trips as FF, Also have had a BoerXAlpine give trips her first time. I always hope for at least twins for a FF, just so it's easier on the doe as they tend to be a bit smaller than a huge single.

In my short experience, I agree with Mygoat that management and especially flushing prior to breeding can result in more multiples.
