Lily's count down pictures

Today is April 7. Kids due April 17.
Lily is 1/2 Alpine and 1/2 Saanan.
I'll post a picture every couple of days. I'm also putting this on my blog for the newbies who (understandably) fret about being able to tell when a doe will kid by looking.

She was dried off more than a month ago, so the udder you see is the result of being a high producer for a year. I've not seen any increase in udder size/shape yet.

Her vulva is still tight.

Tiny vulva. Pronounced crease in the udder. Bulging wide instead of tall. (What we call "losing the barrel" in cows). I wouldn't set my alarm clock tonight.

Can you include some side view angles to include the tail bone in this photo diary? That would be interesting to watch, too.

Did you inform poor Lily that you were posting that pic? Glad to see the udder didn't shrink all the way. I didn't know if my girls were normal or not as they still had some udder for their second freshenings this year. Do they ever shrink all the way if never bred again? Just wondering.

Yes, most of my does will even shrink down to a empty saggy baggy bag in the 2 month dry period. Some will keep some milk in their forever it seems, though. I have also milked off what was left after stopping milking them for 2+ weeks and they generally won't fill up again. I just feel uncomfortable leaving milk in the udder that is not getting emptied at least daily!

That poor girl looks how I feel! At least my sweet baby is now out of my ribs! Lilly is blessed she had no idea about a calendar. Oh how I wish I had no sence of time. Three more days ish. 6 more weeks for me.

I am in love with this doe's rump.

(ETA - if I said that anywhere outside of the goat forum, what WOULD people think of me? )

She ate breakfast, then staked out the corner of the barn that's the birthing area all day. Humming, looking around, yawning. Mild contractions.

About 5:30 she had some contractions, but still no bubble or amber goo. Went in after 45 minutes, burst bubble. Found big headed kid nose and toes. Had to pull it. Found second kid WAY in there, but no more contractions. Pulled it.

Two bucklings.

Will post pics when they are dry.
