Goats hair falling out.

And it's not just summertime shedding. She doesn't have any sort of visible irritation - no scabs from scratching and I don't see any cooties when I look very closely. I did notice a couple of spots on the back of her ankles that looked like little pinpoint blood spots so I put some salve on them but the next day is when I noticed the hair falling out in chunks.

No other goats seem to be having this issue. What do you think?

This time of the year when any of our dogs or goats or anything (us!) have "pinpoints of blood" I think SNAKE! Cannot see why a snake bite would make hair fall out...our critters just swell up like crazy. So, next guess would be some kind of mite...Ivormec Plus is what we have used on the dogs when they find some hideous mange ridden animal to kill and drag in here...

Mites or lice would be my first guess.

Cylence Pour On.

My MiniMancha gets mites every spring. Cylence stops it.

Cylence works great, think it's 4ml? Draw in a syringe put down the spine

What about ring worm?

If it is not mites/lice and she is up to date on copper, she may be zinc deficient. We had a saanen that used to do it every Jan/Feb and we noticed we have one now that is doing it. Gave her a double dose Replamin a few days apart and let her have some zinc tabs from health section, 2-3 every other day for a few days, and she seems to have stopped.

I read in another thread here that Cylence only works on lice, not mites. Now I'm confused...

How long after dosing with injectable ivermectin (given orally) do you have to wait to treat with Cylence?

I would think lice.

They are IMO hard to see.

My poor goats, chickens and donkeys get lice every spring.
