Time in birthing stall

What is the minimum time to keep a single doeling and her 3 yr old mama in a stall alone, separate from the rest of the herd ( 3 other 1 yr old does). The only reason I ask is because the mama acts like she is dying to go outside?? Thanks

Here, I leave the new mama & baby in the stall perhaps for 24 hours, and let them rejoin the herd (weather permitting) when I'm sure baby is nursing well, and they've bonded. I'm sure your doe is dying to get out!

Depending on the weather, right around 48 hours. I keep the first-timers in an extra day. I also work like an HMO. If beds are short, I may kick out an experienced mom in short order if weather conditions permit. I had one rejection this year. I kept them penned for right around a week. They finally bonded and I was very much relieved. We didn't have any bummers out of the meat herd this year, but she was close. It wasn't rejection so much as 'don't feed off me'-itis. That little doeling, because of all the early handling she got, is now a overly human friendly goat. I'd rather they not be that way, because they tend to slow down chores and tasks.

I also get mamma's & babies back with the herd as soon as possible, weather permitting, baby bouncing around & eating good.
The longer you keep them separated the more they will butt heads when they get back together
