Taking goats to school today!

This afternoon is the day we agreed to take the baby goaties to school. We have 5 goat kids now but will probably only take 2 to make it easier. The kids are NOT allowed to touch them and I have to keep them outside which is a bummer. Luckily it is warm today. I am also going to swing by the nursing home were I work as it's right around the corner from the school. I have a couple folks there who ask about the goats every time they see me. The goats CAN go inside the nursing home.

We use to take whatever babies we had inside the nursing home. Some of the residents you could just see their eyes light up when they saw the babies.

Very special gift to those residents.

Poor kids, that will be so hard to not touch

Have fun!

Do you put diapers on the kids when you bring them into the nursing home?

It went well. No I didn't put diapers on the goats. LOL.

At the school the kids were not allowed to touch per the school's new superintendent worrying that someone might have an allergic reaction. In the past we have taken chicks and ducklings in that we hatched in our incubator and kids were allowed to touch but new rules I suppose. Good lord...we should keep kids in bubbles I guess these days. The 2 classes got to come outside and I had the goats in a large wire mesh type dog crate. They got to ask lots of questions about what goats eat, what can you do with them, why don't these goats have ears (Lamancha mixes), etc. The human kids really liked it, goat kids not so crazy about being in the cage.

At the nursing home my hubby and I just carried them around and showed the folks and let them pet them if they wanted. The elderly and disabled are almost always super excited to see any animals. The nursing home I work at is pretty animal friendly and allows pets to live there even if the owner is able to properly care for them.

1sttime -- How cool are you?! Very bummed the school kids couldn't get up close and personal with your goatie kids. Love, love, love that you took them to the nursing home.....When my grandma was in a home her room mate missed her little dog something terrible. I bet you brought a ray of light into some pretty dreary lives
