Nubian Mini goats?

I've been wanting a Nubian goat and someone is advertising Nubian minis near me. I've never heard of a Nubian mini. Would that be a Nubian crossed with some mini breed or is it it's own breed?

The reason I'm halfway interested is because our perimeter fencing is only 4' high field fencing and I'm thinking a smaller goat might be easier to contain. On the other hand, I decided against Nigerians because, well, too small.

So how do mini Nubians compare to Nigerians and what should I know about them?

I have no experience with them either, but have been looking for one. If I recall correctly, a fist generation is a Nubian doe bred to a Nigerian buck. I am in NC as well. Do you mind passing the info on the breeder to me if you plan to not purchase? Thanks!

Teenytiny, I think she's sold them already, her ad is down. Here is the facebook page where they were advertised. It's a popular place for advertising, whether you're buying or selling. The seller's name was Kila Ann. I don't think she is a breeder, I think she just happened to have a couple goats. I sent her a message to see if she still has them but she hasn't replied yet.

Mini crosses can vary greatly in size. And the height of a fence has no bearing on minis! My 18" Nigerian buck bounced over a 5' fence when he was 5 months old. They are gravity defying! Honestly, I have had a much easier time keeping my standard size goats fenced. I have decided to sell my minis this year because I cannot keep the babies contained, they slip right through the fence. I'm worried the horses will stomp on them and I just know they'll still be slipping out by the time I plant the garden in the spring.

I know clovers clan! Not once in the two years I've owned my large need goats have they tried to get out. My minis, now that is a different story! They have tried and succeeded!

Mini Nubians are a mix of a nigerian and a Nubian. F1 is a pure nigerian mixed with a pure Nubian. F2 is an F1 mini Nubian mixed with another F1 mini Nubian, and so on.

I hear that. That's a big part of why I finally quit raising American Guinea Hogs. The babies kept going under the fence and I got tired of chasing them home from under the neighbor's bird feeder. Too small to contain.
