Sunken sides are showing. Babies are near!
I called all the ladies into the pen to check them out & worm the younger ones. I was thrilled today to see my favorite Nubian saying she is almost ready. Hard to tell in the pics, since she is black. I have never seen her sides sink this deep, her milk bag isn't tight yet, but I am guessing we will have some babies before the month is over. I will be checking her & the other 4 daily & watching for the best time to move them into the kidding pen. Sunken sides are showing. Oct 1st was the first day she was exposed. Last yr she played me for about a wk +, as I watched & rubbed her non stop. But she never became this hallow looking. I know it is often hard to see a goat that has dropped by pics, especially if you don't know how that goat is normally built. I think even a stranger could walk up on her & see this! Her ligs are still pretty normal, but she is laying around a bunch.
I need to get the camera charging, sure would be nice if those babies hit the ground while it was in the 70s this wk!

She has been content in the kidding pen for 2 days, this afternoon she tried to bust out when I opened the gate. Gave her a special treat & told her she had to stay. She is playing me just like last time, I am certain of it. I think she will hold out another wk. These pics are from this afternoon. Sunken sides are showing. I agree Alice, when her belly dropped I thought just maybe she was going to go quick, but nope! She just wants to spend more time growing those babies in her belly.
