Deer and Goats

The first pasture I'm fencing for my future goats is/ was the cleanest of my overgrown trashed out land. It's also the side most frequented by deer. Not sure why since all the front is now cleared and cleaned but they browse there the most. When I first arrived the fawns hid in there. Are there any special precautions to take, especially vaccinations and dewormers?

Meningeal worm comes to mind.

I take deer on my property very seriously after losing my first doe to meningeal worm. It was awful. In a deer heavy area my parasite prevention plans now include ducks or other slug and snail eating animals to try and minimize the chance for transmission. Not to mention the addition of venison to our freezer.

Thanks. I am adding ducks this year and will pick up worms and snails for my composting an aquaculture projects as I find them on the surface while cleaning up before they get here.

Deer generally like brush to hide - goats will take care of that. Usually taking a dog into the pasture with you will scent it up and make deer think twice. Aside from watching for meningeal worm, not much you can do, IMO.
