sore thumbs

I'm not complaining really!!

I'm milking 4 total twice daily and 3 are first fresheners, taking about a half hour to milk all four by hand but man do I have some sore thumbs. The pain is improving and so are the teats and let down!

No there is no milking machine in my future, too dang expensive!

There is nothing like hard work to make you sleep well at night. Between the goats and veal calf and a deer or two we should be well fed!

Did I mention how nice the gardens are doing with my composted goat manure??

My children are not steady enough to help milk yet, as I had hoped. They do a good job at feeding kids and calf though!

Me too! I have a couple that are members of the itty bitty ----- committee! One I think will be a lifetime member! I sure am hoping her daughter will fill out though.

Maybe we should start a sore thumbs are us benefit! LOL

boy do I know what you mean. We have one doe, her teats are so small, we couldn't milk her, so we had to break down , and get a milking machine. then we got her milked. I mean I would try until my hands were sore, then my hubby would try. I think her teats were about one half inch, when we started. they are about there quarters of an inch now. I am hoping that when she freshens for the second time , she will get a little bigger. We can all hope!!!!!!!!!!!
those little teats are hard to do.I have three in all, that are first freshners, and have tiny teats. way to small. IT sure makes me love the older gals, that have nice big teats , that you can grab on to, and go to town with.  :haha: :haha:
