sunshine & belly photos

Sun is out and the snow is almost all gone.. doe herd was so excited to get out and soak up some rays.. Edith and Leila were first out.. didn't even bother to make it to the pasture before laying down.. just flopped down in the squish outside the barn door.. Uncle Harold (the pig) joined them.. so did Bob Barker (the LGD)..even the guineas were enjoying the weather... the rest of the group joined them after the last crumbs were snuffled up..

Leila got up and moved with them to the pasture.. that's her bean bag impression.. Lydia is standing next to her.. Leila is due on jan 9th.. poor Lydia still has 2 months to go.. she is HUGE already.. not sure whose hiding in there LOL.. (actually everyone except Leila and Lotti have two months left to grow).. Lotti is due on Jan 11th

Lotti laying down with Ruthie standing over her.. everyone just happy the snow and ice are GONE (at least for now.. more ice due this weekend) so it will be fat ladies back to the barn .. don't want anyone falling the ice

spotted ff's Jewel, Bones and Stones.. (all 3 bred to spotted bucks.. can't wait to see what we get) Jewel is a Carla daughter.. Edith is the mom of the other two..

last picture I got a giggle out of.. those 3 pregnant ladies (all facing the barn)..well the one on the left is Victor the wether.. he always puts on baby weight this time of year..

susie, enjoying the thaw in the ozarks

LOL.. actually you see 3 if you look closely.. Victor, the wether (standing behind Ruthie in one pic..next to Olive and Dill in the other).. his sister Vivian is barely in the Lotti and Ruthie pic (she's off in the left hand corner, laying down).. she & Victor are 1/2 lamancha, 1/2 nubian.. they both have elf ears.. the almost ear-less wonder (standing in front of the 3 facing the barn) is Rizzo.. she is Vivian's daughter by a VERY nicely bred lamancha buck of Coso's.. can't imagine not have a few *lubians and my daughter calls them*..

Such pretty girls! Looks like LOTS of babies on the way.

My doe was supposed to be freshening on Jan 8 but she did not settle. I was so disappointed. It was the first time I have tried the cidr and pg600 and I was upset when she came back in heat. She still hasn't settled. Due to come back in on Christmas so heres hoping.

Yeah, thats no fun. I wonder if we got a bad batch of something. pg 600 or cidrs. I bought mine from a friend and she has been having issues in some does too.

something was off... the does didn't cycle like they should have.. I assumed it was more then likely the PG600 (instead of the CIDRs).. so only my first two batches of does (broke them into groups of 3 & 4, so not everyone kids on the same day) got PG600... the open doe is one of the group that got the PG600... ALL the NON-PG600 (Cidrs only) groups bred and took within 5 or less days of the Cidrs being pulled..

Uncle Harold (the pig) is almost 10 years old.. most of the does have known him their entire lives.. he spends most of his daytime hours hanging out with them.. okay.. on pretty days when they go out to browse.. his short legs can't keep up.. so he spends his time in the doe barn looking for crumbs.. I forget how odd it is to have a pig in the herd.. UNTIL.. I bring home a new doe.. they are usually LESS then THRILLED when the short grunting guy puts in his morning appearance LOL... Leila thought he was terrifying (back in July when she rejoined the herd)... now as the picture shows.. she sleeps next to him LOL... Harold and the sheep also spend a lot of time together.. (they use to share a shed at night, but it got to crowded, so we had to build a new sheep shed).. Harold now sleeps under a HUGE pile of hay.. His house is right outside the kidding barn.. On warm nights, when I leave the windows open.. I can hear Harold snoring, when I get up to go pee or get a drink... we've really enjoyed having him as part of the farm family... not sure I'll ever get another one, once he's gone.. but maybe....(shhhhh don't tell my kids that there's even a wee maybe in there LOL).. they find him annoying and in the way.. I find him charming LOL.. (different strokes, different folks)
